SPIA Lecture: Woodwell Climate Research Center
July 7 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Join us for a special talk with Max Holmes, President and CEO of Woodwell Climate Research Center. Max’s passion for connecting people with the natural world traces back to a childhood love of fly-fishing, one that has quite literally shaped his research career. Over the last 20 years, that passion led him to co-found and lead several major river research networks before taking the helm at Woodwell in 2021. In this talk, we’ll dig into Woodwell’s critical work at the nexus of climate, people, and nature – from tracking permafrost thaw in the Arctic to partnering with Indigenous communities on land protection and informing policy at the highest levels of government. We’ll explore how Woodwell’s experts translate leading-edge climate science into pragmatic, actionable solutions, working alongside local and international organizations to drive just, meaningful change on the ground.
